Firefighters are investigating a string of suspicious car fires in the East Bay this week. All the fires took place in driveways and this morning, a fire jumped onto someone's house.

Earlier this week, car fires took place in Martinez, Walnut Creek, Lafayette and now just this morning, Brentwood.

The first car fire Thursday morning in Brentwood lit up the night. Next door neighbor Chris White took cellphone video when he realized there was nothing he could do to stop this huge fire. He says the people who live here are out of town.

"Right in front of the house, I mean park in front of my house, my daughter's window is right above the vehicle. It is kind of scary," said White.

This fire started at 3:27 a.m. on Highland Way. Firefighters were able to keep it from spreading to the house. But just eight minutes later they got a call that another car was on fire, just a mile away on Hollowbrook Court.

"Our neighbor noticed our truck was on fire, came over to our house and rang doorbell until we were able to exit get out safely," said John, fire victim.

He was afraid this could happen. He had heard about the three other car fires this week in Martinez, Walnut Creek and in Lafayette.

This is a map of the locations where car fires were reported throughout the Bay Area.

"Our family's lives were at risk because somebody decided to set that vehicle on fire," said John.

He's focusing on the relief he feels that his wife and 6-year-old twins got out ok.

"Our daughter hasn't stopped talking about it. It definantly made an impact on her. She wants to know why did the truck melt? I don't have an answer for her," said John.

Firefighters say it is a concern when two fires happen so closely together. All of the fires are under investigation and no arrests have been made.
