50th Anniversary of the Summer of Love
In celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Summer of Love, the California historical society in the Yerba Buena neighborhood is launching an exhibit called "On the road to the Summer of Love."

"The Summer of Love was many things I think to many people," said Anthea Hartig of the California Historical Society. "You can see it as our exhibition tries to help you understand it as a combination of a lot of different revolutionary and what we kind of group together as counter-culture impulses."

Young people flocked to San Francisco to be at the heart of that social revolution.

From political protests to music festivals and everything in between, the exhibit will take you back through it all.

"We have a number of listening stations where you can just pick up a pink phone or blue phone or orange phone...and hear Mario Savio protesting at UC Berkeley or hear Ginsburg reading or so we hope it's a really beautiful historic experience," said Hartig. "And a personal experience, and of course a really beautiful aesthetic experience as well."

The exhibit runs Friday through Sept. 10.

Kartwheel -- Mario Kart-style racing in Golden Gate Park
If you spent hours playing "Mario Kart" as a kid, get to Golden Gate Park Saturday for Kartwheel -- a series of battle races inspired by the video game.

You'll be dodging banana peels while racing your friends for prizes and of course you'll also get bragging rights.

Mother's Day tea tasting at KitTea Cat Cafe
If you need a last minute mother's day gift -- here's a perfect idea -- tea with kitties. KitTea Cat Cafe is a Japanese style cafe in Hayes Valley. Sunday, they'll host a Mother's Day tea tasting. Mom will learn about tea from a connoisseur, take home plenty of samples, and spend an hour with snugly rescue kittens.
