Firefighters contain grass fire along Highway 13 in Oakland
Firefighters raced to contain a grass fire along Highway 13 in Oakland before it reached a university in the area.

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- The northbound lanes of Highway 13 reopened Saturday afternoon after firefighters contained a grass fire, according to fire officials.

The two alarm fire burned in the Oakland hills area near Holy Names University. As of 3:52 p.m., the fire was knocked down at Park Boulevard and northbound state Highway 13 near Holy Names University.

Fire officials said the fire burned about 1.5 acres.

The northbound lanes reopened at 6:23 p.m.
