But there are a few ways that experts say you can avoid falling victim.

If you're not home, have a neighbor pick up your package when it's delivered.

You can customize delivery by requiring a signature or giving specific instructions to leave the package in a secure place.

It's also a good idea to have your items left at the shipping center for pick up instead of delivery to your home.

If your package is stolen, notify police, the delivery company and Amazon right away.
