Vegas shooter may have tried to get room overlooking another concert
ABC News has learned from an official briefed on the investigation that authorities are looking into Stephen Paddock's alleged effort to get another hotel room.

LAS VEGAS (KGO) -- ABC News has learned the Las Vegas shooter tried to book a room overlooking an earlier outdoor concert. An official briefed on the investigation tells ABC News authorities are looking into Stephen Paddock's alleged effort to get a room overlooking a "Life is Beautiful" concert in late September.

That outdoor music festival had major headliners like "Lorde" and "Chance the Rapper" - and attracted more than 100,000 people.

It's not clear whether Paddock may have tried to carry out the attack at the "Life is Beautiful" festival... or if this was part of his intense preparations.

A spokesperson for the Life is Beautiful festival, Devin Aaron, declined to comment on reports that Paddock may have sought to rent rooms overlooking the festival.

The CEO Justin Weniger released a statement on Wednesday afternoon on the festival's website: "The Life is Beautiful Festival family is devastated by the horrific events that took place on Oct. 1 in our hometown of Las Vegas. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone in our community, the victims, their families and the first responders. Life is Beautiful is founded in the beliefs of community and our collective love for each other and the arts as well as making the world a more beautiful and loving place. In the wake of this tragedy, we gather strength from these ideals and urge everyone to come together as a community, support and love one another. We will overcome the hate and the divisiveness together. We will lean on each other to move forward and to create a world in which love is the only option."
