City leaders in Napa said the loss of power, Internet and cell service for two or three days has made it difficult to communicate with residents. So, as the winds pick up Wednesday, putting the city in potential peril, a town hall meeting was called to help them prepare for the worst.

Napa residents were at a town hall meeting at Brown Valley Elementary to learn what to do, and if they will need to evacuate.

City officials in Napa are holding two town hall meetings, one at the school, and another one will be held at 6 p.m. at Napa City Hall on Wednesday.

Nearly 300 people packed a multi-purpose room, and there were others outside listening to loudspeakers. City officials, police, Napa's fire chief, representatives from Cal Fire, PG&E and other agencies took the stage to help give residents much-needed information.

With so many people without power and no wireless or Internet connections for days, the city wanted to dispel rumors. Officials said the water is safe to drink, except for one small area around Silverado Country Club where boiling water is recommended. However, the big concern is changing weather conditions and the possibility of evacuations. The fire chief addressed that, and then ABC7 News got reaction from a resident whether this meeting was helpful in preparing for the unknown.

Abigail Gongora and her husband have done exactly what city leaders want residents to do - be prepared to leave quickly with valuables. They also suggested to plan ahead for a place to go, such as a friend's house.
