One young man has embraced the game he loves as a pleasant distraction after the flames destroyed his beloved collection of baseball memorabilia.

SANTA ROSA, Calif. (KGO) -- One young man has embraced the game he loves as a pleasant distraction after the flames destroyed his beloved collection of baseball memorabilia.

Loren Jade Smith, who loves the Oakland Athletics, wrote the team a letter after his home was destroyed in the North Bay fires.

The A's, along with other teams, responded with a care package for the 9-year-old.

After A's fan Loren Jade Smith lost his memorabilia in the North Bay fires, the Oakland Athletics stepped to the plate to replace his cherished belongings... and then some.

Loren finished his little league season over the weekend. His mother shared photos with ABC7 News.

Santa Rosa native and Kansas City Royals pitcher Scott Alexander also paid Loren a visit last weekend.
