Eleven juveniles arrested for robberies, carjackings, burglaries in San Jose

SAN JOSE, Calif. (KGO) -- San Jose detectives believe there could be more victims of a violent crime spree that lead to the arrests of 11 juvenile suspects.

It started with a carjacking at Communications Hill Friday Nov. 24.

Police said the victim suffered minor injuries after being assaulted by the suspects and thrown from the car as they drove away.

From there, investigators say there were more than a dozen robberies, carjackings and burglaries over the weekend. Many involved a gun.

The spree ended with three separate high speed police pursuits, after which police made the arrests.

The suspects are boys and girls ages 11 to 17.

Police say the drivers were 11, 14 and 17 years old.

One unidentified male got away on foot after one of the pursuits.

Lt. Paul Joseph said crimes like these, involving groups of kids, are happening more frequently.

But, the CEO of the Bill Wilson Center disagrees. She said juvenile crime has declined over the past 10 or 20 years. "If this is a pattern, then we need to look at our community and say, okay, what is causing this to happen," said Sparky Harlan.

The suspects face charges including armed robbery, carjacking, and evading and reckless driving.

Police have identified 15 victims so far.

If there are others, they're asked to come forward.
