SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Since 2010, the CDC estimates that the flu has resulted in between 140,000 and 710,000 hospitalizations each year in the United States.

It's important to recognize the symptoms, but how can you tell if it's the flu or just a regular cold?

The symptoms of a cold include sore throat, runny nose, sneezing, nasal congestion, mild cough, mild body aches, mild fatigue and a moderate fever.
