ANTIOCH, Calif. -- Fire crews have knocked down a blaze that badly damaged an Antioch home Tuesday afternoon and sent three residents to the hospital, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District officials said.
The fire was reported around 12:20 p.m. at a two-story home in the 4500 block of Golden Hills Court, according to fire officials.
Fire Inspector Steve Aubert said two residents suffered smoke inhalation in the fire and a third resident suffered anxiety-related symptoms. All three were taken to hospitals.
The fire engulfed the home's first floor and spread to the second floor, but firefighters were able to knock it down in about 15 minutes, fire officials said.
The cause of the blaze appears to be an accidental cooking fire that started in the kitchen, Aubert said.
He said the fire has left the three residents displaced from the home.
