Oakland police have arrested three suspects after two plainclothes officers were shot at during an investigation into a violent crime.

OAKLAND, Calif. (KGO) -- Oakland police have arrested three suspects after two plainclothes officers were shot at during an investigation into a violent crime. The officers were not struck by the gun fire.

Police were pursuing the suspects in a vehicle when shots were fired.

"Occupants of that vehicle shot at (Oakland) police officers. They eventually crashed and fled the vehicle. We were able to arrest two (suspects) immediately. We then set up a large perimeter to search for a third suspect," said Oakland police spokesperson.

The perimeter was set up at 55th and Foothill, where a tactical unit and an armored vehicle were called in to help with the search. The suspect was arrested when he tried to break through the perimeter.

There were two homicides in East Oakland overnight. Police did not confirm if the crimes are related.
