3-year-old girl struck by car in East Oakland

OAKLAND, Calif. -- A 3-year-old girl was struck by a vehicle in East Oakland this afternoon, a police spokeswoman said.

The girl was struck in a collision reported at 12:19 p.m. in the 1900 block of 98th Avenue. She was taken to a hospital and was conscious and breathing at the time of transport, police spokeswoman Officer Johnna Watson said.

The driver stopped at the scene and is cooperating with police, Watson said.

Northbound traffic on 98th Avenue was being redirected this afternoon while police investigate the collision, she said.

No other information about the case was immediately available.
