GILROY, Calif. -- An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.4 struck near Gilroy Sunday morning, the U.S. Geological Survey is reporting.
The temblor rattled the area at 10:23 a.m., with the epicenter located about 6 miles east-southeast of Gilroy, according to the USGS.
The quake had a depth of about 4.9 miles.
Several dozen people in Gilroy reported having felt the quake on the USGS website as of 11:15 a.m., as well as a number of respondents in Morgan Hill and Hollister.
