5 Things to Know About Charlie White's Fiancee, Tanith Belbin

On Tuesday, "Dancing with the Stars" contestant Charlie White announced that he and his girlfriend of five years, fellow ice skater Tanith Belbin are engaged. "Couldn't ask for a more beautiful setting for the best time in our life! Hashtag she said yes!!!" he wrote on Instagram, along with a photo of Belbin wearing her ring. Here are five things to know about the 29-year-old bride-to-be.

1. She's an Ice Dancer Too

Like White, Belbin is an Olympian. She won the silver medal in the 2006 games in Turin with her partner Ben Agosto. However, in 2010, they announced their retirement from competitive skating. "We have accomplished and surpassed so many of our goals, from participating in two Olympic Games to pushing ourselves and developing our skills in this sport we love so much," Belbin said at the time. "We feel we can move on from our competitive careers without regret." She has since had jobs on TV (including a stint on "Skating with the Stars" on ABC) and has worked as a choreographer.

2. She Holds Joint Citizenship

In 2005, Belbin, who was born in Canada, gained U.S. citizenship after then-President George W. Bush signed a bill to hasten her naturalization, according to the Associated Press. As a result, she was able to compete for the US in the 2006 Olympic games. "I have lived here for so long, and this was the last piece of the puzzle," Belbin said at the time. "I really feel that I have found my place here. Some of the greatest moments of my life were while I lived here, and now I feel complete."

3. She's an Animal Lover

White and Belbin may be engaged, but judging by their photos, both of their hearts belong to their beloved cavachon, DJ.

4. She Knows How to Kick Back

Yes, she's an athlete, but according to her Twitter profile, Belbin knows how to kick back and relax. Posting a photo of poutine-soaked French fries, she wrote, "So excited to see poutine on a local menu! Different color curds, but still tastes like a heart attack! #Yum."

5. She Once Dated Another 'Dancing with the Stars' Competitor!

In 2007, Belbin was linked to ice skater -- and one-time "Dancing with the Stars" contestant! -- Evan Lysacek, according to People. However, by 2009, she was dating White.
