Hikers rescued from flooded trail
More than 60 hikers were rescued by helicopter after a trail in Hawaii flooded.

KAUAI, HI -- Firefighters in Hawaii rescued 62 hikers who became stranded after heavy rains caused streams to flood.

Authorities say the hikers had been trapped for days with dwindling supplies.

The rescue by helicopter came after several hikers ignored warning from park attendants that the trail was closed due to hazardous weather conditions.

One of the rescued hikers says the day started out beautiful, but once the rain started it wouldn't stop.

Rescued hiker Angela Anderson said, "The whole camp ground actually flooded and became like one cascading waterfall. Water was just kind of trickling down through. We all just kind of helped each other out. We all tried to keep the fire going."

One man was taken to the hospital for a non-life threatening injury.

The park remains closed until conditions improve.
