SAN LEANDRO, Calif. -- Several Alameda County law enforcement agencies and emergency responders will be participating in an active shooting training exercise Sunday afternoon in San Leandro.

The exercise will be held at the Bayfair Center at 15555 E. 14th St from 6 p.m. to 3 a.m..

The Alameda County Fire Department, the Alameda County Sheriff's Office, the Alameda County EMS, the Alameda Police Department, the Hayward Police Department and Paramedics Plus will be participating in the exercise.

This exercise concludes several months of preparation between the agencies and mall management, according to a San Leandro Police Department release.

The exercise will include critical incident response training and will incorporate historical data from similar incidents nationwide.

"Preplanning and Multi-disciplinary training are key to managing an active shooter incident and saving lives," San Leandro police Chief Sandra Spagnoli said. "This is the type of practical training that prepares public safety for the worst case scenario."

This training exercise will be closed to the public.
