The woman filed the suit in San Francisco Superior Court Thursday. She claims the host assaulted her in Los Angeles last year.

Her lawsuit accuses Airbnb of creating a "false sense of security for its renters" and failing to perform background checks on its hosts.

Airbnb removed that host from its program and issued a statement saying: "The abhorrent behavior described has no place in our community and we will not tolerate it."
