ANTIOCH, Calif. (KGO) -- There are new developments in a fatal shooting in Antioch late Monday night. A shotgun was discovered a short distance away from the victim. Police are questioning three people after the car they were in slammed into a home.
When a car crashed into an Antioch garage last night around 11:30, the woman inside said it sounded like an explosion. Inside her garage two cars were damaged and supplies for her event planning company were thrown to the ground.
"I was just afraid to look out the window I didn't know if who was involved had jumped the fence or what I was just afraid," said the Antioch resident.
When she finally did look, she said she almost passed out in shock. A car wedged into her garage and three people being hauled off by police. She lives in the house alone, along with her dog Pepper.
"I just thank god I am still alive because it could have very well come through that gate and come through here I am just blessed to be alive," said the Antioch resident.
The three people inside the car may have been trying to get away from the scene of a murder.
"I was just sitting on the couch last night and it was just a single shot," said Antioch resident Cheryl White.
The murder happened in front of White's home on Hudson Court. A police officer on patrol heard the shot too then saw a car without its lights on driving away. The officer pursued it until it crashed into the garage. Police found a man who had been shot to death lying on Hudson Court.
"It's crazy you know want to have my son over here and I can't really have him over here," said Deon Cooper, Antioch.
Residents said crime is becoming too common in Antioch.
"Too much violence around here in our community we don't know how to come together and work together as one so it's going to continue to go on," said White.
Antioch police have not announced any arrests or a motive.
