SAN JOSE (KGO) -- Arson investigators want to find out if two fires, close to each other in San Jose, are connected.

Huge flames rose from the latest fire. It broke out in a warehouse, along North Fifth Street near the Hwy 101, I-880 interchange, around 10:20 Thursday night. Nobody was hurt. It took crews almost an hour to put the fire out.

A few hours earlier, a fire started at a welding school, a short distance away on Commercial Street. Firefighters faced several, dangerous challenges. That's because tanks holding welding gases erupted into flames on the side of the building at the Lloyd Williams Pipe Trades training center.

Students were inside the building when the fire started, but they got out safely. Nobody was hurt.
