SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Two Bay Area lawmakers are ready to take action to keep the Golden Gate Bridge free to pedestrians and bicyclists.

Assemblymembers Phil Ting of San Francisco and Marc Levine of San Rafael plan to announce legislation Wednesday to prevent the bridge district from implementing any fee to cross the span.

Last month, a group of officials agreed to proceed with a study of a fee as part of a plan to close a $33 million deficit.
