Body found on street in West Oakland

OAKLAND, Calif. -- The body of a female was found lying in a West Oakland street early Thursday morning, according to police.

Police found an unresponsive female at 3:44 a.m. near the corner of 24th and Chestnut streets.

She was pronounced dead at the scene. Her body had visible signs of trauma and the death is being investigated as a homicide, police said.
