Water main continues to cause problems in San Francisco
Work is continuing Friday night to patch up the San Francisco intersection where a broken water main busted early in the morning.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Work is continuing Friday night to patch up the San Francisco intersection where a broken water main busted early in the morning.[br /][br /][b]RELATED: [url HREF="http://abc7news.com/news/san-francisco-water-main-break-causes-traffic-delays/1648658/" TARGET="" REL=""]San Francisco water main break causes traffic delays[/url][/b][br /][Ads /][br /]The intersection of 4th and Howard in the city's always busy South of Market neighborhood has been tied up for repairs, causing delays for drivers.[br /][br /]The man hole has been covered up, and fresh concrete has been laid out over much of the intersection.[br /][br /]For some people leaving following an afternoon of shopping, the blocked intersection poses a bit of an obstacle.[br /][br /]For bicyclists who rely on the Howard Street bike lane, Southbound Howard to 3rd Street was a challenge, but past the construction it was a breeze.[br /][br /]"Cars are changing lanes sporadically," said one bicyclist Chad Roffey. "It's a little bit dangerous, but not significantly more than usual."[br /][br /]The 121-year-old, 12 inch water main failed at 3 a.m. causing water to gush out of the street.[br /][Ads /][br /]"Very little damage to any of the properties," said Suzanne Gautier of the San Francisco Public Utilities Commission. "Some flooding, spillage at some of the garages in the area."[br /][br /]The Marriott Hotel underground garage experienced some of the flooding. Construction is expected to continue into the morning.
