Child on bike struck, critically injured in San Francisco

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- A car struck and critically injured a 3-year-old boy on a bicycle in San Francisco's Richmond District late this morning, a police spokesman said.

The collision was reported at about 11:45 a.m. near Fulton Street and 43rd Avenue, police spokesman Officer Gordon Shyy said.

The child was taken to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries that are considered life-threatening, Shyy said.

The car's driver remained at the scene and is cooperating with investigators, Shyy said.
