Crab traps set in San Francisco Bay
Traps are being set in the San Francisco Bay for the beginning of the Dungeness crab season.

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- Dungeness crab season is about to start and fishermen will head out to set their traps. The first catch is expected back on the docks late Saturday.

Fishermen say they're hearing good things, they think crab lovers will be pleased. But they'll get a firsthand look when they pull their pots in tomorrow.

Negotiations went well this year; fishermen and wholesalers have set the price at $3 a pound. Some crab fisherman said they have gotten so used to waiting and being delayed because of a fight over the price. But this year, talks went smoothly and fishermen got the green light in plenty of time for Thanksgiving.

Fishermen say waiting to go in year's past has been frustrating; sometimes they watch good weather come and go while officials fight over a few pennies. They are very happy that this year that they can get to work. They are hearing the weather looks good out at sea and the crab look good too.
