VALLEJO, Calif. (KGO) -- At least two structures were damaged by a 3-alarm brush fire in Vallejo Saturday afternoon.

The incident was reported off of Creekview Drive near the Blue Rock Springs Creek.

Crews tried to extinguish flames on a parched hill behind houses, which are backed up against the Blue Rock Springs Creek area.

The winds kicked up embers causing damage to the structures, including the roof of a house.

Crews were able to get control of the situation pretty quickly and even left the scene, but were called back when the winds rekindled the smoke and flames.

"Some of the neighbors were getting ready to pull their hoses out, but the fire department came and everyone just shut down on that and I guess their roof over there got some embers on it," Gary Madigan said.

Crews got the second fire under control. Madigan says the dry hill behind all their homes is a concern, especially in this drought. He said they're trying to figure out how to clean up a lot of the brush and low grass in their neighborhood.

Neighbors say they want to make sure there's a good buffer zone between their homes and the public park.
