Crews search for kayaker near Dumbarton Bridge

FREMONT, Calif. (KGO) -- Crews spent hours trying to find a kayaker who fell in the water near Dumbarton Bridge in Menlo Park.

The Coast Guard says a rafter and a kayaker were in the water together, and when the kayak capsized, the rafter called for help. Menlo Park fire officials were able to locate the victim on the raft. He said his friend was still in the water with no life vest and had disappeared.

Crews began their search around 4:30 p.m. and found the kayak and the life jacket but not the person inside.
