MORGAN HILL, Calif. (KGO) -- The Santa Clara County Sheriff's office is investigating a burned body found in the South Bay.
The body was found near Oak Glen Avenue and Uvas Road, west of Morgan Hill, near Highway 101.
The call came in just after 8 a.m. Thursday morning.
A driver saw a body on fire and reported it to police. Sheriff's deputies say they know the gender of the body but aren't releasing any details at this time.
"Obviously it's a homicide. It's very suspicious to us," said Sgt. Kurtis Stenderup."Obviously bodies don't just catch on fire on their own. We are investigating it with all the resources we have to solve this crime."
The coroner's office will help determine when and where the person died, as well as to help figure out what the person was doing in the last few hours they were alive.
Oak Glen Avenue is a well-traveled road, especially during commute hours. The road will be closed the rest of the day as the investigation continues.
This is the first homicide of the year for the Santa Clara County Sheriff's Department.
