BERKELEY, Calif. (KGO) -- A driver surrendered to officers in Berkeley on Wednesday night at gunpoint on I-80 after a pursuit that began when they tried stopping him for a carpool violation. The driver eventually got stuck in traffic. The arrest was a memorable one.

"It was definitely a little bit bizarre, while we were trying to get him out of the vehicle, he was holding onto an energy drink and he was smoking. He didn't want to let go, as he put it, he wanted one last drag," said CHP Ofc. Sean Wilkenfeld.

The driver is 22-year-old Christian Arreola from Brentwood. He has an outstanding felony warrant for a parole violation.
