FAIRFIELD, Calif. -- A Yountville man died this Saturday afternoon in Fairfield in a traffic collision involving a motorcycle and an SUV, California Highway Patrol officials said.

The man, 70, was riding a 1993 Harley Davidson west on Interstate Highway 80 approaching Interstate Highway 680 at about 1:50 p.m., CHP officials said.

A 2015 Toyota Highlander was traveling adjacent to the motorcyclist when the cyclist lost control of the cycle and fell, according to CHP officials.

Witnesses told officers the motorcyclist was driving between 65 and 75 mph, CHP officials said.

The Highlander struck the motorcyclist and he died at the collision site, according to CHP officials.

The motorcycle caught fire and the collision and fire stopped traffic in all westbound lanes for an hour and 20 minutes, CHP officials said.

No one else was injured in the collision, according to CHP officials.

Officers do not suspect drugs or alcohol were involved in the collision, CHP officials said.

Anyone with information about the collision is being asked to get in touch with the CHP at (800) 835-5247 or the CHP Solano Area Office at (707) 428-2100.
