One police impersonator is behind bars after allegedly pulling over a real cop.

An off-duty police officer was driving in Dumfries, Va. early morning on January 29 when they noticed Shawn Michael Robinson, 27, in a white Crown Victoria following behind their car. According to police, Robinson shined a spotlight affixed to his car and the officer pulled over to the side of the road. Robinson then pulled up alongside the off-duty officer's vehicle and attempted to make contact.

The officer told Robinson he was a member of the police, which caused Robinson to immediately speed away. The officer was able to provide police with a tag number and then pursued Robinson to an area where the suspect on foot. Officers later were able to identify Robinson as the accused behind the incident, issuing a warrant for his arrest. Robinson then turned himself into police later that day without incident.

Robinson has a court date set for March 4 with no bond, according to police.
