LAFAYETTE, Calif (KGO) -- Firefighters extinguished a brush fire that threatened one home and burned eight acres on Deer Hill Road near Highway 24 in Lafayette Wednesday morning.

Officials are worried about the triple digit temperatures as it heats up in the Bay Area today.

The fire burned north of Highway 24 near Briones Regional Park and not far from Acalanes High School.

Officials say the fire threatened one home Deer Hill Road, but residents managed to escape safely. "So right when I saw it i sprinted downstairs with my dog and woke my parents," Jack page said.

The page family got out safely, including Nemo the family dog. "It was scary when we first left the house, two big fires on the ridge lines, so they've done a good job," Trevor Page said.

Firefighters were already bracing for a hot tough day when this broke out before the sun even came up.

With today's possible record heat and the dry drought conditions, they're worried this won't be the only fire they battle. "It's late July don't normally see these fires until we're in the late September early October time frame, you know we aren't even half way through the summer yet or half way through the fire season yet, so we're concerned and we're already starting to see signs of fatigue," Contra Costa Fire Department spokesperson Robert Marshall said.

Firefighters are already worn out from helping with the fires in Solano County this week. "One of the crews that responded to that fire yesterday, they were out there for six to seven hours came back and they were back in the district until 10 o'clock last night. That happens to be the station that was first in on this fire," Marshall said.

Crews got the job done and even though the Lafayette fire looked big, they kept it to eight acre and no one was injured. "It was really scary, it was really scary, but I knew it was going to be alright," Jack said.

Officials are investigating the cause of this fire.
