Hayward police arrest 4 after home invasion robbery and vehicle pursuit

HAYWARD, Calif. (KGO) -- Hayward police officers chased suspects they say robbed, pistol-whipped and kidnapped their victims. This started as a home invasion on Berry Avenue. Police chased the suspects to Winton and Myrtle where the suspects crashed and got cuffed.

This is a complicated case and Hayward police are still trying to figure out what exactly happened late last night. And one man may be the link between the suspects and victims.

Four home invasion suspects, two men and two females were caught on Winton Avenue and Myrtle Street just after 11 Thursday night. After crashing during a high speed police chase, a fifth man ran off. Some of the suspects were treated by paramedics and then taken into custody. Police found several weapons at the scene.

"There were some firearms, a handgun, possibly a shotgun. A handgun found by the vehicle and a shotgun and possibly another handgun inside the car," said Hayward Police Sgt. Tasha Decosta.

Police say this all started when the five suspects picked up and possibly kidnapped a man at Harder Road and Franklin Avenue and drove over to the apartment complex. The three male suspects and the possible kidnapping victim went inside. Two men and one woman were robbed. The suspects took electronics, jewelry and some marijuana. The suspects also pistol whipped the two male victims. The man who may have been kidnapped stayed at the apartment. While the five suspects took off in their car. The victims are cooperating and refused medical treatment.

"These things aren't very often random. We do believe this suspect or suspects have targeted this house specifically," said Decosta.

Police say the suspects will face home invasion, evading police and possibly kidnapping charges.
