Homicides up in San Francisco, Oakland

SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) -- It's been a violent start to the new year in San Francisco and Oakland. Both cities have had nine murders so far in 2015.

That's more than any January in recent years.

At this pace, both cities are on track to rack up 108 homicides.

There were 49 murders in San Francisco last year, and 80 in Oakland.
