Hot air balloon proposal ends with ocean rescue near San Diego

ENCINITAS, Calif. -- A hot air balloon proposal didn't go as planned for one couple after their balloon veered off course and landed in the ocean near San Diego on Sunday.

Lifeguards and surfers at Cardiff Beach in Encinitas jumped to the rescue, helping the couple and their pilot get back to shore safely.

The incident happened around 6:30 p.m. and was caught on camera by onlookers.

No injuries were reported.
