DENTON, TX --A jailer near Dallas has been fired for performing a leg sweep on a suspect.
This happened back on July 19 after Jason Wayne Bishop was arrested for public intoxication in Denton.
While in custody, a detention officer, identified as Darious Porter, applied the leg sweep, sending Bishop falling on his face. An on-duty police supervisor told his boss about what happened inside the jail cell.
Bishop told Dallas TV station KTVT he's fortunate to have survived.
"My eyes were pretty much swollen shut when I left the hospital," said Bishop. "I've never been treated like this or, you know, come out like with any serious injuries like this."
No other officers have been implicated. It's unclear if Bishop will sue the department.
