BROOKLINE, Mass. (KGO) -- A woman is being hailed as a hero for rescuing two children after they fell into a reservoir while strapped into a double stroller.

The woman, identified only as Rebecca, was jogging when she saw the stroller roll toward the water.

The stroller went down a 10-foot embankment and into the reservoir. The children went in face-down.

Rebecca, a former lifeguard, didn't wait for the children's mother to act.

"So I jumped in and the children were buckled in. At that point I was water logged and I couldn't really take it out. One woman jumped in but she couldn't swim, so she went in trying to help but ended up grabbing on me," Rebecca said.

She dragged all three closer to the edge, where others helped bring them in.

Police said the children, ages 18 months and 4 years, were checked out as a precaution and are OK.

Rebecca was in Massachusetts for the day for her father's birthday -- in the right place at the right time.
