KANSAS CITY (KGO) -- A 56-year-old Kansas City man is being hailed as a hero after leaping into action when the driver of a bus he was riding in came under attack.

Rodney Goldman is seen in surveillance video grabbing his cane and pummeling the attacker. He hit the man so hard, his cane broke in half.

The man ran off but was captured by the police.

Goldman was later honored for his heroism. He received two new canes, a lifetime bus pass and a thank you card signed by Kansas City bus drivers.
