MEDFORD, N.Y. -- A Medford man was arrested Thursday because he has had his license suspended or revoked nearly 50 times, police said.

Around 10 a.m., an officer on patrol in Medford saw the driver of a 2007 Chrysler, John Auteri, fail to signal while turning in to a parking lot on Route 112, according to a statement from the Suffolk County Police Department.

The officer determined that Auteri's license had been taken away 49 times on 20 different dates since 1986.

Auteri, 48, of Medford, was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle 1st degree.

He will be held overnight and is scheduled for arraignment in Central Islip Sept. 26.
