SAN LEANDRO, Calif. (KGO) -- A man who was convicted in the fatal accident of a 14-year-old boy crossing the street in San Leandro has been sentenced.
It was an emotional morning. Almost everyone was crying inside during the sentencing, including Sonny Anderson, who was convicted of killing 14-year-old Ivan Cruz.

A judge sentenced Anderson to 37 years to life for 2nd degree murder and several other felony charges relating to that crime spree in San Leandro on November 11, 2014. While fleeing from police, he hit and killed Cruz with his car. Cruz was in a crosswalk on his scooter. The San Lorenzo man is described as a life-long criminal. Now he'll likely spend most of his life, if not all of his life behind bars.
