Marijuana buy in SF erupts in violence, leaves man wounded
SAN FRANCISCO -- Police are investigating a shooting and attempted robbery that injured a man in San Francisco's Tenderloin neighborhood on Sunday night.
At about 9:10 p.m. Sunday, police received a report of a shooting near the intersection of Golden Gate Avenue and Leavenworth Street.
According to a preliminary investigation, it appears the victim, described as a man in his 20s, was having a conversation with another man in the area when a silver sedan pulled up next to them, police said.
Police said the suspects, described as a woman in her 30s and an unknown male, allegedly told the victim to empty his pockets.
One of the suspects then pulled out a rifle and the victim began to run away from the car, police said.
The victim was shot in his lower torso while running from the suspects.
Police said the suspects fled from the scene in a silver sedan, possibly a Toyota Camry or a Honda.
According to police, a semi-automatic rifle was recovered nearby.
The victim was transported to San Francisco General Hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening, police said.
