She's gone repelling off buildings, skydiving and scuba-diving with sharks in her journeys around the world, but her next adventure will be close to home: motherhood.

Ginger Zee, ABC News' chief meteorologist, is having a baby, she announced Monday on Good Morning America.

"It's so emotional for me," she said during the announcement, adding with a laugh, "I'll do anything, but this scares me."

The 34-year-old married sweetheart Ben Aaron, a correspondent for NBC, in June 2014. The couple has said that they want both biological and adopted children.

The fearless Zee said that making the announcement was one of the most nerve-racking experiences she's had in a long time.

"All the other adventures promise you will return home," she said. "This is like, when you get home, the adventure is there."

The couple is expecting their new addition late this year, Zee said, putting it in weather speak: "The forecast for delivery is in December."
