Milpitas first city to allow recycled water for construction projects

Milpitas is the first city to provide recycled water stations for construction contractors in the South Bay.

The city's emergency drought ordinance eliminates the use of potable water for construction purposes like dust control and compaction. Milpitas Public Works has set-up five recycled water fill stations throughout the city for that purpose.

The city says transferring construction water use to recycled water can save an estimated 25,000 gallons of potable water each day.
