MOUNTAIN VIEW, Calif. (KGO) -- Mountain View police are asking for the public's help catching a "peeping Tom" who recorded cell phone video of people through apartment windows.

Police are investigating two incidents and are asking for the public's help.

Police say the first incident was in October when the victim at the apartment complex on California Street saw a flashing red light of a camera in her window while she was in the bathroom. She called police, but no arrest was made.

The second incident happened in the early morning on New Year's Day.

"The victim was lying in the bedroom and through a window saw somebody recording with the lights on the cell phone again. But in this instance, which was good, there was a possible witness that saw the suspect. So we were able to get a general description of the suspect," said Saul Jaegar of Mountain View Police.

Police say they're not sure if it's the same person, but they believe it is.

The witness told investigators the suspect is a man in his 20's or 30's with a medium build, wearing dark clothing.

They're asking for people in the area of Rengstorff Avenue and California Street to be on the lookout for anyone acting suspicious and to give them a call.
