ALAMEDA, Calif. (KGO) -- A routine traffic stop in the East Bay led to a big pot bust.

It all started when a CHP officer in Castro Valley tried to pull over the driver of a van on I-580 for a cellphone violation.

Officers found more than 200 pounds of pot in the van. Two people were arrested.

A further investigation led officers to storage units in Alameda. Officers found more than $1 million in case stuffed into a suitcase.

They also found more than 100 pounds of marijuana and growing equipment.
