ALAMEDA COUNTY, Calif. (KGO) -- In the East Bay early Thursday evening, a deadly officer-involved shooting happened at 168th Avenue and East 14th Street. The intersection was blocked for hours while the scene was under investigation.

Witnesses called 911 around 4:45 p.m. and said a man was beating up a woman. The suspect has a history of domestic violence and was seen violently attacking the woman on the street and smashing her head against his car.

The Alameda County Sheriff's Office said a motorcycle officer arrived on scene and dropped his bike to go rescue the woman. Shots were fired from the officer to stop the threat from the suspect.

SKY7HD caught video of a body on the ground, next to a car with bullet holes in the windshield.

Investigators are also looking into reports that the suspect was trying to hit the officer and the woman with his car when he was killed.

The woman was hospitalized with severe head injuries; there is no word on her condition.
