PALO ALTO, Calif. (KGO) -- Police are investigating a suspicious death in Palo Alto Thursday night.

Around 8:30 p.m. the Palo Alto Police Department announced they were investigating a crime scene at a residence in the 300 block of Creekside Drive.

Detectives will not say how the person died, just that the scene inside the house seems "suspicious."

Officers were called the home before 8 p.m. after someone else who lives at the home found the victim and then dialed 911.

A lot of neighbors were out earlier because something like this doesn't happen very often in Palo Alto, and that's also the reason for the large police presence.

"It's a very safe town. Most of the crime here is property crime based. Violent crime is exceptionally rare," said Palo Alto police Lt. Zach Perron.

The 300 block of Creekside Drive has been closed to traffic while officers investigate.
