Palo Alto police seek suspect in armed robbery

PALO ALTO, Calif. -- Palo Alto police are seeking a suspect in an armed robbery that occurred Tuesday night.

The victim contacted police around 9:15 p.m. Tuesday to report that he had been robbed in the 100 block of University Avenue, according to police.

The victim, a man in his 20s, said he had been walking east on University Avenue from one of the pedestrian tunnels coming out of the transit center at 95 University Ave., when he noticed a suspect following him.

On the 100 block of University, the suspect called to the victim, and when the victim turned, he saw the suspect pointing what appeared to be a black handgun at him, police said.

The victim handed over cash from his wallet and the suspect walked away east on University Avenue.

The victim described the suspect as a black man in his mid 20s, around 6 feet tall with a thin build. He was wearing a light blue jacket.

The victim was not injured in the robbery.
