Pilot dies following military plane crash north of Sacramento
Officials say a US Air Force pilot has died and another pilot was injured following a plane crash north of Sacramento that occurred Tuesday morning. Officials are investigating to determine what caused the plane to go down.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KGO) -- A US Air Force pilot flying a military plane was killed when it crashed north of Sacramento this morning.

The U2 plane was with the 9th Reconnaissance Wing at Beale Air Force Base, east of Yuba City.

The plane went down in a small range called the Sutter Buttes, about 35 miles west of the Buttes.

Officials say the two pilots were ejected before the crash. The second pilot was injured.

Investigators are on the scene. Details haven't been released about the training mission or why the plane may have gone down.
