BERKELEY, Calif. -- Police have shut down a section of a West Berkeley street Wednesday afternoon.

At about 12:50 p.m., police issued a notice advising people to avoid the area of the 1600 block of Sixth Street, between Cedar and Jones streets.

No vehicle or pedestrian traffic will be allowed because of the unspecified "police activity," police said.
