Police arrest East Alto homicide suspect in San Jose
Murder suspect, Lionel McCoy, 23, was arrested in San Jose for a homicide that took place on June 10 in East Palo Alto.

SAN JOSE (KGO) -- A homicide suspect is in custody after a major police operation in the South Bay.

The homicide took place on June 10 in East Palo Alto but the murder suspect, 23-year-old Lionel McCoy, was arrested apartment building on North Second Street in San Jose Friday morning.

"We considered him to be armed and dangerous and felt he was very much a threat to our community and to any of the communities that he was visiting," said Chief Albert Pardini.

San Jose police and East Palo Alto police conducted the raid. Investigators say McCoy shot and killed 30-year-old Christopher Puckett related to an ongoing personal dispute.

They say it could've involved some other criminal activity they were involved in, but police are not releasing specifics.

Investigators say another man was arrested during the raid for violating his parole. Police say they're not releasing a photo of McCoy because there may be additional witnesses who will need to identify him.

Police are not saying if there are additional suspects for this homicide.

It was the second homicide of the year for East Palo Alto.
